Said to be the most photographed ghost town in the West, just south of Zion, and the backdrop to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Grafton sits below Zion National Park in Washington County. It is claimed to be the most photographed ghost town in the American West, and the claim is plausible: the setting puts adobe and timber buildings against the red cliffs of the Virgin River valley, and the light does the rest.
It has been used as a film location repeatedly. In Old Arizona was shot here in 1929, the first talking picture filmed outdoors, and later the bicycle scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
The nearest inhabited town is Rockville, which now includes Grafton inside its legal boundaries. The schoolhouse, a few homes and the cemetery survive, kept up by a preservation partnership rather than a state park.
The access road is unpaved and crosses private land. It is open to visitors but it is somebody else's ground, and the site asks that you behave accordingly.
