A mining town in northeastern Nevada that peaked in the 1880s and recorded seventy two residents in 2010.

Cherry Creek sits in northern White Pine County, off US 93 north of Ely. Silver brought several thousand people here in the late 1870s and early 1880s. Successive revivals kept it alive at a much smaller scale into the twentieth century.
Enough survives to read the town: wooden false fronts, a schoolhouse, mine workings on the slopes above. It is a census county division rather than an incorporated town, and the 2010 census recorded seventy two people.
This is a place where the distinction between abandoned and simply quiet matters. People live here. The photogenic derelict building may be behind a fence for good reason.
