Deep Creek
The last Utah station before Nevada, under the highest mountains in the western desert.

Deep Creek station sat in the shadow of the Deep Creek Range, which is the tallest thing for a hundred miles and carries genuine alpine country on top of it. Snow lies there long after the desert below has baked.
This is effectively the end of the Utah section. West of here the trail crosses into Nevada and a different set of ranges, and the road quality drops again.
Gold Hill, an unincorporated community in far western Tooele County near the Nevada line, is the nearest thing to a settlement and it is largely a ruin itself, a mining town that outlived its mines twice over.
This is remote, unpaved country with no fuel, no water and thin phone coverage for a hundred miles. Carry more water than you think you need, tell somebody your route, and do not attempt the crossing in a low car after rain. The BLM manages most of the road; call the Salt Lake Field Office for current conditions rather than trusting any page, including this one.
